A future vision

The overall goal of the Zakoura Foundation is to develop a large-scale program, which is financially viable and operationally self-sufficient, serving thousands of poorest microentrepreneurs. From now to the end of 2006, Zakoura plans:

  To put in place a new trade software package and to computerize all branch offices
  To borrow 260 million dirhams so as to cover the needs of fiscal year 2006
  To put in place an accounting plan which is in compliance with the guidelines of the Moroccan Central Bank
  To grant 574,000 loans and reach a number of 357,000 active clients while continuing to focus on the poorest populations living in semi-urban and in rural environments.
  To have 121 branch offices and 970 secondary sites, continuing to be involved in the rural world and the most remote areas so as serve the poorest populations
  To conduct quantitative and qualitative studies to understand its target population better and offer it better products and services
  To develop the “Housing” loan (acquisition and construction of a house) and other loans in partnership with a "supporting measures / training" component. This is possible due to better synergies between the Zakoura Education Foundation and other associations
  To roll out financial products such as: the “Installation” loan (merger of the water/electricity and improvement of housing loans developed in 2004), and the "Rural Tourism", "Payphone" and "Well Drilling" loans for the rural world
  To strengthen the institutional capacity of the Foundation to support its ambitious growth strategy and put in place and organizational plan
  To maintain the Education and Civism program and the training sessions, which important aspects of social development for beneficiaries, and support the beneficiaries by offering to them basic management training sessions so as to help them develop their project
  Hire 450 new credit agents and 41 new branch office heads On order to diversify its activities, the Zakoura Foundation for Microcredit has decided to be part of the Pronace (“Program of Support to Creation of Businesses), the goal for 2006 being:
  The establishment of 9 regional counters
  The assistance to the creation of 1,000 VSE’s (Very Small Enterprises)
